It is with deep sadness that I reach out to you on the death anniversaryof your beloved wife Senior Attorney-at-law Mrs. Gowry ShangaryThavarasha.The Gowry Shangary Thavarasha, I recall was an exceptionalcourageous lawyer who secured her prominence in the cases ofunlawful arrests and detention of militants, journalists, doctors,temple trustees and public servants. She was an ardent defender of human rights andrepresented many cases on a humanitarian basis in the courts of law.She was always available to those who needed her services, especially those mostmarginalized.Mrs. Thavarasha played a significant role in upholding the rule of law in a number of prominent cases.She has been an excellent mentor and guide for young lawyers, and nurtured many under
her tutelage.Her passing has been a great loss for the country and the legal fraternity.
